Mercedes Searer is a Hispanic-American movement artist and movement director whose work explores the gradation of dynamic range between pedestrian and hyperbolic performance states. She invests in the idea that bodies are perpetually engaged in processes of biological, social, and cultural performance. Concerned with the limiting constraints of self-perceptions, Searer’s work asks how our cultures and stories manifest in our bodies and intimate spaces. With degrees from Sarah Lawrence College and Point Park Conservatory of the Arts, Searer’s work has been shown by Whitebox (New York), One plus One Favelab (Athens, GR), Victoria Square Project (Athens, GR), Jack Hanley Gallery (New York), Lincoln Center Atrium (New York), BKSD (New York), Le Petit Versailles (New York), Trestle Gallery (New York), and CRAIVE (Troy, NY) among others.
